ABSTRACT
Although it has been known for a century, only recently have engineers and scientists come to appreciate that many instances of apparently random behavior in physical systems are not noise, but rather the outcome of deterministic rules. Chaotic systems - from simple electronic circuits to the human heart. We will discuss chaos in several system, including the semiconductor diode laser. Recent advances in control techniques for chaos, deveoloped by our group, will also be presented.
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Krishna Myneni received his M.S. in physics from the University of Louisville in 1987. Since 1990 he has worked in Huntsville, supporting advanced research and development projects for the U. S. Army AMCOM. His expertise is in the areas of spectroscopy, measurement of optical properties of materials and device, and optical instrumentation.
